Two New Haven Police Department officers were injured while making an arrest Sunday. The officers, Sergeant Jason Minardi and Officer Florencio Cotto, approached a suspect, Lawrence Jeannette, as he was walking down West Street with a woman. Jeannette was wanted for his involvement in a domestic dispute in which he physically assaulted the woman. According to a press release by the city, “Jeanette became highly uncooperative and incited a struggle with officers as they attempted to subdue him for questioning.” Minardi’s shoulder was injured in the incident and Cotto’s hand was fractured. Both officers were taken to the hospital where they were treated and released. Jeanette was charged with multiple crimes, including criminal assault on a police officer.
