Briefly: For Connecticut Latinos, voter registrations soar past expectations

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz announced Wednesday that the state registered over 21,000 Latinos since June as part of its “¡Tu Voto Si Cuenta!” campaign. Bysiewicz said that the campaign succeeded beyond her wildest expectations as the count far surpassed the original goal of 10,000. Her office partnered with the Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission and local residents to increase civic participation among the state’s Latino community. Of those newly registered, over 1,300 were from New Haven.
