Welcome to the Yale Daily News Recruitment Website!

With over 140 years of history, the News is the Oldest College Daily, a financially and editorially independent daily newspaper that runs every day. Aside from our daily paper, we publish a magazine, run a weekly creative supplement on Fridays and dip into multimedia through Yale TV and our brand new podcasts.

We contribute to discourse on campus, in New Haven and around the world. With 15 desks, we have a spot for almost everyone — whether you’re a writer, artist, designer, photographer, tech lover, aspiring businessperson or even completely unsure of what you want to do at the News — we’d love to have you!

You can join the News during any point of the year and contribute as much or little as you’d like. The goal of this website is to improve information accessibility, making the News a more inclusive space for people of all backgrounds. On each tab, you’ll learn about the various desks, their structure and how to get involved. We also provide financial aid to those who spend a substantial amount of time working for the News based on demonstrated financial need. This includes editors, as well as beat reporters.

The way to get started is simple: Take a look at the desks that interest you on this website, and then take a minute to fill out this YDN interest form. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be added to email panlists where you can begin taking assignments and learning more! Every editor has listed their email on their desk’s page — we’d all love to hear from you if you have specific questions!

For more information about the News, financial aid or accessibility, email our editor in chief, Mackenzie Hawkins, at editor@yaledailynews.com. We can’t wait for you to join the YDN family!
