Coming off a bye week in the first round of the ECAC Hockey Tournament, the second-seeded Bulldogs lacked the momentum of a battle-tested Dartmouth team.

The last time the No. 7 Yale men’s hockey team played a game, according to head coach Keith Allain ’80, “seems like a million years ago.” But even back then, Yale and Dartmouth might have been playing against each other. The programs first met in 1907, a 4–2 Bulldog victory, and have faced off 212 times since.

At the same time the puck dropped on the Yale men’s hockey game against St. Lawrence on Jan. 23, an inauspicious streak belonging to defenseman Dan O’Keefe ’17 rose to 27 — 27 games since O’Keefe had last laced up his skates for the No. 10 Bulldogs and 27 games since the junior blueliner had last played meaningful collegiate minutes.
