Yale Athletics

This past Saturday, the Yale men’s (8–2, 4–2 Ivy) and women’s (5–6, 3–3 Ivy) squash teams competed in their last regular season games at home at the Brady Squash Center. The men swept Western University (9–0) and the women fell to Stanford University (9–3, 3–0 MASQ).

Before the matches began, both Yale teams celebrated their seniors with a ceremony on glass court one. The men’s team honored captain Maxwell Orr ’25, Max Forster ’25, Nikhil Ismail ’25, Merritt Wurts ’25 and Taylor Clayton ’25. This was the team’s largest graduating men’s senior class in history. The women’s team celebrated captain Nina Mital ’25, Lindsay Westerfield ’25, Christy Lau ’25 and Meghna Sreedhar ’25.

After the celebration, the men took down Western, denominating all nine matches. Seven of the men beat their opponents 3–0.

“I am really happy with the way that Saturday went,” Forster wrote to the News. “It was a great way to finish my Yale career at the Brady Center, and I am proud of the way our team finished the season with a 9–0 win over a competitive team.”

Forster beat his opponent with an impressive 11–2, 11–1, 11–2 scoreline.

The women fought hard on Saturday, ultimately falling to the fourth nationally ranked Stanford.

While the Bulldogs ultimately fell, first years Heng Wai Wong ’28 and Meha Shah ’28 had tight 2–3 matches that, although not in their favor, could have turned the outcome of the team score.

Historically, the Bulldogs have been victorious against Stanford, having won 11 matches to five since 2011.

Both teams will head to Philadelphia to compete in the CSA Team Championships to wrap up the 2024–25 squash season. The men will be heading into the competition ranked third, and the women are ranked seventh nationally.

“We are hoping to put in a lot of hard work this week so that we come out feeling good and ready to take on nationals next weekend,” Shreedhar wrote to the News. “I’m looking forward to having this one last big weekend of competition before our season ends, which I know will be especially meaningful for the seniors on our team.”

The CSA Team Championships will be held from March 6 through March 9.
