To the Editors of the Yale Daily News:
The epic Yale-Penn and Yale-Princeton men’s basketball weekend is upon us. The 7-0 Ivy first place Elis will take on Penn on Friday at 7 p.m. and Princeton on Saturday at 8 p.m. in a nationally televised game. The Elis are listed by all bracketologists as the presumptive Ivy NCAA entrant and a lofty 12-seed.
Senior John Poulakidas is on track to become Ivy Player of the Year and senior Bez Mbeng is on track to be the first three-time Ivy defensive Player of the Year.
I wrote “The Madness Of Ivy Basketball,” which came out in July and chronicled the Elis 2024 NCAA run and upset of highly touted Auburn. I was assisted by two Yale student writers. This Elis version may well be as talented individually and more talented as a team.
Hopefully, JLA will be sold out and Yale students will attend in droves and make the home crowd as boisterous as Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke.
