On Monday evening, a stabbing incident took place on the New Haven Green across the street from Yale’s Old Campus.

According to a press release from the Yale Police Department, the New Haven Police Department is currently investigating the incident and the offender has been apprehended by the YPD. Eyewitnesses saw areas of the Green taped off on Monday as police vehicles, dogs and ambulances swarmed on to the scene.

NHPD spokesperson Shayna Kendall could not be reached Monday night for comment.

Last March, the NHPD investigated a separate violent stabbing on the Green that had left the victim hospitalized. Another stabbing incident last August shut down Park Street, an area near Pierson College and Davenport College.

The investigation is ongoing, and the YPD has called for any witnesses to contact the department through the LiveSafe app or at 203-432-4400.
