Yale and New Haven police officers are investigating a report that a man kicked a member of the Yale community in the buttocks on campus Tuesday afternoon.

Yale Police Chief Ronnell Higgins described the incident in an email to the Yale community Tuesday evening. Around 4 p.m., Higgins said, an unknown man crossed Prospect Street near Hillside Place and approached a woman who was walking there. As the man walked past, he said something incomprehensible and kicked the woman in the buttocks. Then he entered a silver sedan parked on Prospect and drove north, away from Yale’s campus, according to Higgins.

Higgins said city police officers are investigating the situation, and that the Yale Police Department has increased the number of patrols in the area.
