Two New Haven teenagers were shot in the Newhallville neighborhood area Friday afternoon, according to a press release from New Haven Police Department spokesman David Hartman. Neither face life-threatening injuries.
Officers were sent to the scene at the corner of Winchester Avenue and Lilac Street at 6:35 p.m. after officers in the area heard gunfire, the press release noted. Multiple 911 calls described two shooting victims, one located at the Winchester and Lilac intersection and one close nearby.
Both victims are believed to be from New Haven and neither sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the release. One fourteen-year old male was shot once in his left leg, and the other, who is fifteen years old, was shot in his left ankle.
According to unconfirmed witness reports, a white car — possibly a Dodge Intrepid with New York license plates — may have been involved, the press release states. Hartman said there will be no further information at this time.
