THIS DAY IN YALE HISTORY 1990 Due to a $150,000 cut to the athletics budget, Yale cuts seven junior varsity sports, including men’s and women’s tennis and lacrosse, as well as men’s basketball, baseball and wrestling. Today, Yale offers club sports in place of junior varsity.
