The New Haven Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday near 393 Mansfield Street—a five-minute walk from the Divinity School. There, the NHPD located the victim, forty-seven year-old Christopher Motzer of Guilford, CT, who had been shot in his right ankle. Motzer told police that a black man around forty years old and armed with a silver revolver beat him and took his cell phone. The NHPD suspects that the perpetrator had an accomplice and that the two fled the scene in a white Chevrolet with New York plates. Motzer’s injury was treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
