New Haven Police Department arrested Hamden resident Dean L. Williams this morning for a July 2015 incident in which Williams crashed his three-wheeled motorcycle while trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle.
Kevin Lee Lewis, the front-seat passenger of Williams’ motorcycle, died from injuries he sustained in the crash.
The two charges against Williams, age 36, were Negligent Homicide with a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Drive in Proper Lane.
“The actions of Dean Williams were the sole cause of the death of Mr. Lewis,” stated NHPD Sergeant Rose J. Dell in a press release.
To avoid colliding with the other vehicle, Williams drove his motorcycle onto the sidewalk of Whalley Avenue. The motorcycle then struck a cement wall and a tree that grew from this wall.
The incident occurred at 3:06 a.m. on the night of July 19, near the intersection of Whalley Avenue and West Park Avenue.
