In a campuswide email tonight, Chief of Yale Police Ronnell Higgins notified the University that an undergraduate student reported a sexual assault to Yale Police.
Higgins’ email, sent shortly after 10 p.m., said the student reported being sexually assaulted by an acquaintance, who is another Yale undergraduate. The alleged event happened on campus in a residential college during the early hours of Sunday morning, according to the email.
Higgins said campus police have begun an investigation and requested that anyone with information regarding the incident contact the Department.
The email encouraged students who are aware of other cases of sexual assault to come forward and report the incidents. The police will investigate, Higgins said, and provide referrals to other resources on campus such as the Sexual Harassment and Assault Response & Education Center, the Title IX Coordinator, the University-Wide Committee, Yale University Health Services, and victim advocacy services.
