A person has been shot on Dwight Street, the Yale Police Department reported to the University community early Monday morning.

At 12:44 a.m., a campus-wide email sent by YPD Chief Ronnell Higgins indicated that police had responded to reports of a shooting on Dwight Street, between Whalley Avenue and Elm Street — an area located behind the Courtyard New Haven at Yale hotel. Higgins requested that recipients avoid the area as the investigation continues.

YPD personnel were not available for comment immediately after Higgins’ email was sent.
