Passionate about Chinese crafts, I went to a traditional ceramic workshop in Jingdezhen, China, to make ceramic sculptures and paint on porcelain plates. In “Four Pieces of Life,” I portray the four steps in my life, from birth and kindergarten to elementary and high school, in a photographic style. I accompany these paintings with fragmentary sentences to describe the scenes and document my momentary feelings. While painting and writing, I used art as a form of diary to recollect sentimental moments in my life that evoked fleeting emotions.
