With a menacing blizzard looming, Gov. Dannel Malloy has declared a State of Emergency across Connecticut, mandating a travel ban across all roads that will take effect at 9:00 pm tonight.

“People need to take this storm seriously,” Malloy said in a press release.  “If current predictions are accurate, we will need people to stay off the roads so that emergency personnel and utility crews can get to the places they need to get to, and to make sure that our plows can keep critical roadways clear.”

Malloy also cited the blizzard warnings issued by the National Weather Service, noting the predicted snowfall and heavy winds.

He is slated to give a public update at 5:02 pm today from Hartford at the state Emergency Operations Center.
