As President Obama takes on the issue of sexual assault of college women at the White House, University President Peter Salovey has pledged to tackle the same problem on his own campus.

While in Davos for the World Economic Forum, Salovey gave an interview with HuffPost Live in which he encouraged discourse on the issue of sexual violence, as increased awareness will lead to quicker and more forceful action against the crimes.

“We don’t tolerate sexual misconduct on the Yale campus, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have to create ways of addressing it when it happens,” Salovey said.

Though no concrete plans have yet emerged from Salovey’s words, his statements arrive at an optimal time, as President Obama nearly simultaneously created the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault. This Task Force aims to have recommendations ready for college presidents by the end of a 90 day period.
