Jack Elias, physician-in-chief at the Yale-New Haven Hospital, will become dean of medicine and biological sciences at Brown University on September 1, the Brown Daily Herald has reported.
In his new role, Elias will oversee both Brown’s medical school as well as its five divisions of biological sciences. Elias joined the Yale faculty in 1990 and has since served as chair of the department of internal medicine and professor of immunobiology. Over the last three decades as a physician and researcher, he has published more than 200 journal articles on lung disorder, ranging from pneumonia to the effects of smoking.
Elias received his bachelor’s degree and M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
