YCC Vice President Debby Abramov ’14 will not return to Yale this semester and plans to leave her YCC position vacant, she announced in an email to the YCC Wednesday afternoon.

Once the spring semester begins next week, the YCC will elect a new vice president according to the rules outlined in its constitution. The YCC Executive Board will review applications from members of the YCC subsidiary bodies — the Freshman, Sophomore and Junior class councils and the Undergraduate Organizations Committee — and choose two final candidates. After the YCC interviews the candidates on Jan. 20, the YCC and all executive board members except YCC President John Gonzalez ’14 will vote. If a tie occurs, Gonzalez will act as tiebreaker.

Abramov’s email did not provide reasons for her departure but stated that she “ultimately felt that leaving Yale for a semester was best.”
