Following Fareed Zakaria’s plagiarism scandal and ensuing resignation, the Yale Corporation named Margaret Marshall LAW ’76 as a successor fellow on Friday..
Marshall served as an alumni fellow from 2004-’10 and chaired the Advisory Committee on Campus Climate in the wake of Yale’s Title IX investigation. Marshall was Harvard University’s general counsel from 1992 until 1996, and she served as the first female chief justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Masachusetts from 1999 to 2010.
“We are extremely pleased that Margaret has agreed to serve the University again on the Yale Corporation,” Levin said. “Yale has benefited greatly from her counsel and wisdom, and looks forward to drawing on her talents once more.”
According to the Yale Corporation’s website, Marshall will be the only fellow on the Corporation to have served as both an alumni and a successor trustee.
The Yale Corporation has 10 successor fellows and six alumni fellows. Successor fellows are appointed by current members of the Corporation, while alumni fellows are elected by the University’s alumni body.
