A U.K. charity has announced it will fund scholarships for low income students to come to Yale this summer.

The Sutton Trust, an organization that supports social mobility and education for low-income students, already runs seven summer schools in the U.K. The new initiative will be Sutton’s first in the U.S. In a Monday press release, the Trust said it plans to offer scholarships to 64 students in the program’s first year, with students from households making less than $63,000 receiving priority in the application process.

“Studying at a US university is an appealing prospect to many UK state school students,” Sir Peter Lampi, the trust’s chairman and founder, said in a press release. “If successful, we intend to establish many more US summer schools next year and beyond — opening a pipeline for UK students to reap the benefits of higher education at leading US universities.”

Applications for the program will be due April 16. The program is expected to be held at Yale in July.
