If your parents are in town this weekend, tell them to stock up on the cannoli care packages — that Sunday Jazz Brunch at Scoozzi is no longer an option. After 24 years, the Chapel Street restaurant located adjacent to the Yale Rep closed for business today.

The restaurant’s website says nothing of the closure, but calls to the restaurant are met with a recording thanking patrons for their business. Patrons can also leave a message for Scoozzi.

According to the New Haven Register, the restaurant’s closing came as a shock to its own workers, as well as the New Haven community. Organizers of New Haven’s restaurant week, set to begin on November 6, were surprised to learn of Scoozzi’s closure, as the restaurant was slated to participate.

Scoozzi enjoyed an 89 percent approval rating on ZAGAT.
