Make sure your parents keep embarrassing baby pictures in their wallets at these lunches.
The Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action Project will host its fourth annual professor lunches initiative with some of Yale’s most distinguished professors at Family Weekend, which runs Oct. 28-30.
The first lunch will be held Oct. 29 at 12:30 p.m., with the following guests:
- Amy Hungerford, English professor, former director of undergraduate studies for the English major
- Jennifer Klein, History professor, former director of undergraduate studies for the History major
- Dale Martin GRD ’88, professor of Religious Studies
- Leslie Woodard, lecturer in English, dean of Calhoun College
The second lunch will be held Oct. 30 at 12:30 p.m., with the following guests:
- Akhil Amar ’80 LAW ’84, Sterling professor of Law and Political Science
- Paul Bloom, professor of Psychology
- Marvin Chun, professor of Psychology, Master of Berkeley College
- Charles Hill, diplomat in residence and lecturer in International Studies
- Shelly Kagan, professor of Philosophy
- Margherita Tortora, professor of Spanish
The lunches started four years ago, when YHHAP the group was looking for more creative ways to raise money, said YHHAP co-director Chelsea Andreozzi ’12. She called the meals a great way to utilize Yale’s professors. This year, YHHAP co-directors Andreozzi and Amalia Skilton ’13 and assistant director Jennifer Friedmann ’13 personally approached the professors in July, Andreozzi said.
“Professors are busy, but a lot of them were willing to make the effort and be generous with their time that weekend,” Andreozzi added.
Leslie Woodard, Akhil Amar, Paul Bloom, Marvin Chun, Charles Hill and Shelly Kagan have all participated before in the annual event.
The luncheons, which are capped at 18, will take place in residential colleges’ fellows lounges. The suggested donation, which includes the price of food, is $30 per non-student guest and $15 per student, or $100 for a party of four or more guests.
