Maybe we could get a massive Claire’s cake?

To celebrate Harvard’s 375th birthday this year, a Boston bakery run by a Harvard graduate will be making an enormous red velvet cake in the shape of the letter H.

Harvard produced a video for the occasion, which features Joanne Chang, the graduate who runs the Flour Bakery, talking about the cake to an upbeat, exciting soundtrack. Like any good action film, the movie is not without an eye-catching title: “IT’S Harvard’s BIRTHDAY, And We’re Going To Need A Really Big Cake.”

“We talked about a bunch of different options, a bunch of different designs, and we finally decided on a very simple but very dramatic big, big H made entirely of cake,” Chang says in the video. “And then when it came time to decide what kind of cake, because of Harvard’s colors, we decided to go with a red velvet cake.”

Chang said the cake — whose ingredient list includes 278 pounds of butter, 1,000 eggs and 1,290 cups of sugar, among other things — will feed 4,000 people at an event in the Tercentennary Theater on Oct. 14.

Let’s be real, we’re pretty jealous, though we are curious if Claire’s could actually put out a Lithuanian coffee cake that big. Check out the video below.
