The Yale Corporation recently voted to make Roberta Romano LAW ’80 a Sterling Professor of Law. Romano is the first woman at the Law School to be given a Sterling professorship, the University’s highest academic rank.
Romano, who joined the YLS faculty in 1985, has researched topics ranging from the regulation of securities markets to state competition for corporate charters. An accomplished author, she also directs the school’s Center for the Study of Corporate Law and teaches at the Yale School of Management, according to the YLS press release. In 2005, she was named the Oscar M. Ruebhausen Professor of Law, a post that will now be held by YLS Professor Henry Hansmann LAW ’74.
““These are two of the most prestigious chairs at the law school, and it is such a great pleasure to see them filled by two such deserving colleagues,” Yale Law School Dean Robert Post LAW ’77 said of Romano’s and Hansmann’s appointments.
Romano’s books include “The Advantage of Competitive Federalism for Securities Regulation” and “The Genius of American Corporate Law.”
