Earlier this week, the University posted a minute-long clip promoting next month’s Yale Day of Service to its YaleCampus YouTube channel.

The video, which was directed by Austin Kase ’11 and which may be the cutest Yale viral sensation yet, opens with Devon Martinez ’11 singing, the song “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)” with lyrics “I’d like to build the world a home and furnish it with love, grow apple trees and honey bees and snow white turtle doves.” She and a friend carry large planks of wood, probably to go and build said home. The rest of the video follows suit, chronicling Yalies — including campus folk trio Plume Giant, members of Yale’s a cappella groups and even director of state communications and special initiatives Michael Morand ’87 DIV ’93 — as they tend to plants, paint homes and lift their voices in song. And of course, Handsome Dan makes an appearance.

The video, reminiscent of a classic 1970s Coca-Cola commercial, ends by encouraging viewers to sign up for the May 14 Yale Day of Service.
