Yale professor and retired-general Stanley McChrystal has been cleared of all “wrongdoing” implied in a profile published in the Rolling Stone this summer, according to the Associated Press.

An inquiry conducted by the Pentagon “called into question the accuracy of the magazine’s report,” and the office of the Defense Department inspector general “concluded that the evidence was insufficient to substantiate a violation of any applicable legal or ethics standard by McChrystal or any of his staff,” the AP reported earlier today. At the time the article was posted, no comment had been made by the Rolling Stone.

McChrystal was dismissed after the profile was published last July from his position as commander of American forces, but earlier this April the Obama administration invited him to lead an advisory board called Joining Forces that will aim to provide support for military families. McChrystal also continues to teach a seminar on leadership at Yale’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs.
