• A federal investigation into whether Yale violated Title IX has been in the media spotlight since it was first announced two weeks ago, but similar probes at Yale’s peer institutions have gone largely unnoticed.

  At least four universities and professional schools — including the University of Virginia (UVA), Duke University, Princeton University and Harvard Law School — are presently under investigation by the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights because of Title IX complaints, DOE spokesperson Jim Bradshaw said.

• New Haven residents, community leaders and University administrators gathered in the Dwight Place location of a brand new Stop and Shop supermarket that opened Friday morning. The celebration marks the end of a yearlong search for a grocer to replace Shaw’s supermarket, and the end of a year in which Yale students and downtown residents did not have immediate access to a full-service supermarket.
• Electronic band Big Gigantic, alternative rock band Third Eye Blind, rapper Lupe Fiasco and electronic duo Designer Drugs will play at Spring Fling on April 26, the Yale College Council announced Thursday. This year’s concert will also have an afterparty for the first time, featuring Patrice “Pato” Wilson — the rapper from Rebecca Black’s music video “Friday” — as a special guest at Toad’s, said James Campbell ’13, president of the Spring Fling committee. While committee members said they are satisfied with the lineup, this year’s concert did not come together smoothly: Two major acts canceled their appearances, leaving organizers to find replacements, said YCC Events Director Michael Chao ’11.
