Mayor John DeStefano Jr. was joined by community leaders Wednesday to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new headquarters for Higher One, a rapidly expanding New Haven financial services provider, at the Science Park location that once housed Winchester Repeating Arms. The groundbreaking marked the beginning of a $45 million renovation of two buildings at the Winchester facility that will serve as the company’s new headquarters. Founded in 2000 by three Yale undergraduates, Higher One specializes in providing financial services to colleges and universities across the nation. It first moved to Science Park in 2004, and has been ranked one of the fastest growing companies in the nation.
