As we mentioned earlier today, Minnesota governor and former Yale hockey player Mark Dayton ’69 could have his loyalties torn when the NCAA hockey tournament opens this weekend.

Both Yale and the University Minnesota-Duluth — whose supporters are all Dayton’s constituents — are in the same bracket. That means that the two will play in Saturday’s tournament quarterfinals if they win their opening round games on Friday.

Well, now we heard from the man himself. Dayton’s solution to the possible predicament?

“I am rooting for the Bulldogs.” he said.

The catch? Both Yale and Duluth call their teams the Bulldogs. Sounds like someone has spent too long in politics.
