The No. 16 Yale men’s lacrosse team opens conference play Saturday at 1 p.m. vs. No. 12 Cornell. The Bulldogs are currently the only undefeated team in the Ivies, improving to a 4-0 record after a commanding 10-6 victory over the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on Saturday March 12. While Cornell has already lost two of the five games they’ve played this season, their defeats have come against No. 13 Army and No. 2 Virginia, to whom they lost a 11-9 nail-biter last weekend. Yale attackmen Brian Douglass ’11 and Matt Gibson ’12 are each coming off of three goal performances against Lehigh, with Douglass leading the team in points with 19 this season (11 goals, 8 assists). Goalie John Falcone, who’s been a stonewall so far this season, currently leads the nation with a 66.7% save percentage. But he’ll have his hands full with Big Red attackman Rob Pannell, who’s first in the nation with 5.6 points per game, 0.85 ppg ahead of the second-place Douglass.
If you’re back on campus, head down to Reese Stadium no less than an hour before game time for some quality lax tailgating, brah. Buses run from Payne Whitney every 30 minutes.
