New Haven’s fourth murder of the year took place Monday night two blocks from St. Raphael’s Hospital.

At 8:10 p.m. New Haven Police Department officers responded to 113 Auburn St. after a report of a domestic dispute. When they arrived on the scene, the officers entered a first floor apartment after hearing cries for help coming from within.

The officers found a Hispanic female and a Hispanic male — believed to be a married couple — suffering from multiple stab wounds. The female subject died before she an ambulance arrived, but the male was taken to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

The NHPD has begun a homicide investigation, department Spokesman Joseph Avery said in a press release. Detectives believe that the murder is an incident of domestic violence.
