Field hockey player Lexy Adams ’13, a back on the Yale team that finished second in the Ivy League in 2010, is preparing to make her mark off the field with a bone marrow donation that will save the life of an 18 year-old cancer patient.
Adams participated in the bone marrow drive organized last spring by the football and women’s hockey teams to benefit Yale women’s hockey player Mandi Schwartz ’11 who has been battling leukemia since her diagnosis in 2008. In mid-October, Adams received a call from the National Marrow Donor’s Be the March Registry, telling her she had been found to be a match. Her status as an excellent donor was confirmed over Thanksgiving Break. Adams is one of three Yale students found as a match through the bone marrow drive last spring.
