The University of Chicago reported a 19 percent gain in investments during the last year, which bests the endowment returns of Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, Dartmouth and Yale for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010.

Yale reported the worst performance of the Ivy League schools, with an endowment return of 8.9 percent. The University of Chicago also topped Columbia, who reported the best endowment return in the Ancient Eight at 17 percent.
