One of the construction workers injured in Monday’s deadly accident in Science Park will remain at Yale-New Haven Hospital for five more weeks while he undergoes major surgeries, a friend told the New Haven Independent. One of the injured workers died late Monday, another was also in critical condition, and a fourth was released from the hospital.
Yale hockey player Mandi Schwartz’s ’11 cord blood transplant has been scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Schwartz, who has battled leukemia since December 2008, was declared in “almost complete remission” after a biopsy last month, paving the way for the upcoming procedure.

Mory’s is back — again! Though the storied York Street club reopened last month, Yale and New Haven leaders gathered Tuesday evening for a ribbon-cutting event at the newly renovated eatery. Attendees included Yale professor and Mory’s president Douglas Rae, Mayor John DeStefano Jr. and University Vice President and Secretary Linda Lorimer.

Instead of entering his sophomore year at Yale this fall, Cassius Marcellus Cornelius Clay has become a stylist for Kanye West. After West complemented Clay’s shoes at Barney’s in New York, the two began a correspondence that ended with the rapper inviting Clay to be a part of the superstar’s fashion team and inner circle.
Sen. Christopher Dodd expressed support Wednesday for Susan Carney, Yale’s deputy general counsel, at her nomination hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. In May, President Barack Obama nominated Carney to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
