A patient has escaped from the Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital.

The New Haven Police Department sent out a warning Thursday afternoon that the patient, Hector Delgado, 26, escaped from the institute on Wednesday by climbing a tree and jumping over the hospital’s outer wall. Delgado escaped around 6 p.m., almost 24 hours before officials made the escape public.

Delgado is a Hispanic male, stands five-foot-11, weighs 167 pounds and was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and blue pajama bottoms, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NHPD at 203-946-6316.
