Say goodbye to The Publick Cup and hello to another Blue State Coffee.
The Publick Cup, the coffee shop on York Street, is closing after Friday, and the space will reopen again on Tuesday as another Blue State Coffee, Blue State co-founder Andrew Ruben ’11 said late Thursday night.
“We are going to spend the weekend turning it into a Blue State Coffee,” Ruben said.
Blue State is keeping all of The Publick Cup’s employees and adopting its catering business, Ruben said. The coffee will change to Blue State’s, but The Publick Cup’s selection of teas will remain.
“The goal is when we open on Tuesday to have it look and feel and taste like a Blue State Coffee,” Ruben said.
This will be Blue State Coffee’s second location in New Haven. The other shop is located on Wall Street. There are also two Blue State Coffee locations in Providence, R.I.
The Publick Cup was formerly called Koffee Too?, but owners changed its name in early 2008.
