Sean Lockhart, better known as the gay porn star Brent Corrigan, was uninvited to speak at Yale for Pride Month because coordinators of the event did not think they had enough time to plan for the backlash his visit might cause, said Lockhart and his manager.

Though LGBT Co-Op Co-Coordinator Alejandro Bustillos ’11 had originally told the News there was an issue of funding in hiring Lockhart, Pride Month organizers confirmed that this statement was made in error. Lockhart’s manager, Charles Lago, said cost was never an issue.

“There was some sort of form of backlash that gave them some sense of hesitation,” Lockhart said in a phone interview. “As far as I was concerned, the invitation stood until it was revoked. It wasn’t a consideration or a maybe.”

But both Lockhart and Lago said they understood that organizers were operating on a tight schedule. Lockhart said he would be happy to come speak at Yale another time and Lago said organizers had expressed interest in bringing Lockhart to campus — just not for this year’s Pride Month.
