Just in time: According to Casey Klippel ’09, a former member of the Guild of Carillonneurs, the bells on top of Harkness Tower are definitely “good to go” to be played at this year’s Commencement weekend.

“Just looking at it now, it’s looking almost done,” she said in an e-mail.

Originally, it was up in the air whether the carilloneurs would be allowed access to the bells at the end of the school year because of the construction on Harkness Tower. In September, Deputy Secretary of the University Martha Highsmith DIV ’95 made no guarantees, explaining that the opening of the carillon would be contingent on whether students would be able to safely climb the tower in May, and that Harkness renovations may not be completed until June.
