  • When women’s hockey captain Caroline Murphy ’10 stepped onto the ice of Ingalls Rink Saturday for the last home game of the season, there was someone special cheering from the crowd: her father, Colonel David Murphy, on two-week leave from the military after a seven-month deployment in Afghanistan.
  • It’s been more than a year since Mary Miller took up the mantle as dean of Yale College, and while she says she intends to focus increasingly on academic standards and distributional requirements, budgetary restraints out of Miller’s control could have just as great an impact on the goals Miller pursues during her tenure as dean.
  • There’s a new comedy show on campus: it’s called the Cucumber, and it’s a series of stand-up open mic comedy nights hosted by the Yale Record. Said amateur funnyman Eric DePalo ’11: “Stand-up is an animal all its own, different than improv and sketch comedy … And the Cucumber is its only habitat at Yale.”
