What’s that? You grew up watching “Celebrity Deathmatch,” and you don’t care that freak-folk is a made-up genre. Check out Grizzly Bear’s latest video, “Ready, Able.” While being bored by the music, you can at least be entertained by the accompanying visuals and the prospect of smugly bringing it up in conversation later calling it a very “sculpterly” work. Just check out this youtube comment as endorsement: “beauty adapts and evolves but stays infinite…” Compelling. Barf.
The Hood Internet is back with Volume Four of their mixtape series. Assuming you aren’t already over them (I’m looking at you, Brooklyn), the Hood Internet is a DJ-ing duo that mixes, GET THIS, indie and hip-hop. Basically, they’re like Girltalk with hipster cred, and some of their mash-ups are admittedly “tots brill.” Check out Passion Pit vs. Juvenille on “Back That Sleepyhead Up,” or OJ Da Juiceman (feat. Gucci Mane) vs. Discovery on “Make The Loop Aye.” Pump it at your next pre-game.
