On Tuesday, Gov. M. Jodi Rell announced that the state Bond Commission is expected to approve on Oct. 30 over $182 million for the construction of a new Gateway Community College campus downtown. “This project represents a gateway to academic excellence and future job growth in Connecticut,” Rell said in a statement Tuesday. Construction for the 360,000-square-foot Church Street campus — which will include a four-story structure and a 600-car parking garage — will begin this fall and be completed by fall 2012.
