Though I have been an alumnus of the Yale Graduate School since the 1960s, I was both surprised and impressed that President Levin sent an e-mail message to me (and presumably thousands of Yalies) explaining details of the Annie Le GRD ’13 murder and what Yale was doing to cope with it.

I offer the most heartfelt and sincere condolences to the parents of Ms. Le, to her heartbroken fiancee, and to all members of our beloved Yale community. It is a relief to know that law enforcement agencies, with the cooperation of Yale, worked so diligently and promptly to bring the alleged perpetrator to the halls of justice. Lastly, I was proud of the professionalism of the highly regarded student newspaper, the Yale Daily News.
