The women’s field hockey team will look to build on a strong opening weekend as they travel to Orono, Maine, to take on the University of Maine and Colgate in a pair of non-conference games this weekend.

The Bulldogs (1–1) will face a Black Bear (2–1) squad that is coming off a convincing 9-4 win at Dartmouth last weekend. The Elis will also take the field against the Raiders of Colgate (0–3) in a neutral site matchup at Maine. The Raiders are riding a three game losing streak that begin with a loss to Monmouth in their season opener.

Forward Ashley McCauley ’10 will lead the Elis as she continues her quest to chase down Emily Montgomery’s ’78 record to become the team’s all-time leading scorer. After her three-goal performance in the season-opener last Friday, McCauley is currently 14 goals behind Montgomery’s record of 46, and 28 points behind the record mark of 98.

The Yale defense will also look to feed on the momentum built in two solid performances in last weekend’s contests. Led by classmates Marissa Waldemore ’11 and Erica Cullum ’11, the Bulldog back line will pose a strong challenge to both the Black Bear and Raider squads.

The action gets underway Saturday at 3 p.m. and continues Saturday at 2 p.m., when the Bulldogs take the field against Colgate.
