Beginning this fall, Yale will now accept a third exam for students to demonstrate English language proficiency. The exam, Pearson’s Test of English Academic, is computer-based and about three hours long, according to Pearson’s Web site. Yale requires a minimum score of 70 on the exam for applicants who are non-native English speakers. Yale last added a new English proficiency testing option three years ago, when it began accepting the IELTS test. Yale College is the only undergraduate institution in the Ivy League currently accepting the exam, according to Pearson’s Web site.
