With two home victories under its belt this week, Yale’s softball team will look to continue its home field success this weekend.

The Bulldogs will begin the weekend hosting Columbia on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 12:30 p.m. and will finish their home series with a doubleheader against Penn on Sunday, also starting at 12:30 p.m. Coincidentally, all three teams are currently 1-3 on the season in conference play.

The Bulldogs (12-14, 1-3 Ivy) are currently riding a two game win streak after strong pitching performances and run support against Fairfield on Wednesday. The Elis are hoping to better their Ivy League record against a Columbia team (9-17, 1-3 ) that has lost its past two games. Yale will also be looking to take advantage of a Penn team (6-17, 1-3) that has been inconsistent.

They key for the Bulldogs this weekend will be dominance on the mound. Yale has been able to maintain a 3.03 ERA on the mound, but Bulldog pitching has been inconsistent. The Elis gave up 16 runs over the course of its doubleheader against Cornell on Tuesday, but gave up only two runs in their two games against Fairfield on Wednesday.

“Hopefully we will carry this momentum into our games this weekend,” captain Megan Enyeart ’09 said. “When we get our bats going, we can play with every team we face.”
