The New Haven commission on substance abuse presented its third annual town hall meeting to raise awareness about underage alcohol use. The event, held at James Hillhouse High School, was attended by about 100 citizens, most of them high school students. Alcohol is still the No. 1 most often illegally used substance in New Haven, with some 46 percent of respondents claiming to drink underage, according to literature given out at the event. Attendees and organizers expressed satisfaction at the event, and noted that it will raise awareness for a vital issue. “It’s time for a change,” high school student Jeremy Moore said.
