The Yale College Council plans to make public tomorrow its New Haven Safe Streets Coalition Report, which offers recommendations to the city of New Haven and the Office of New Haven and State Affairs. The report suggests, among other things, improving education on traffic safety for Yale undergraduates and reducing the speed limit for streets within the Yale campus. Alexander called the report “thoughtful” and said he would be meeting with the YCC in the near future to discuss which recommendations could be feasibly implemented. YCC representative Vidur Sehgal ’10, who worked on the report, said he recognized the challenges of implementing the recommendations during an economic crisis but said the New Haven budget for road safety has remained unchanged.
