The New Haven Police Department’s newly reinstated Tactical Narcotics Unit conducted two stings on Friday and Saturday, City Hall spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga said in a press release. The TNU on Friday arrested three individuals at 41 Gibbs St. after the USPS contacted them about a suspicious package bound for that address from Puerto Rico. The package contained 566 grams of cocaine with a street value of approximately $16,000. At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the TNU made four more arrests at 59 1/2 Derby Ave. as the result of a monthlong investigation into the sale of cocaine from the home. When officers entered the home, they were attacked by four pitbulls, one of whom was shot and killed by an officer.
