At a public meeting with New Haven Police Chief James Lewis on Wednesday, 20 members of the local Meeting of the Moms activist group questioned Lewis about how far he will go to reduce youth crime in the city, the New Haven Independent reported. The women raised the possibility of reviving a citywide youth curfew proposal from two years ago — this time modeled after one recently instituted in Hartford. Lewis said he would consider the idea, as long as youth picked up by police have somewhere to go besides the criminal justice system.
